Rice Drewry: Music

Little Jimmy

(Rice Drewry)
There’s little Jimmy sittin’ on his backroom perch
Takes another swig of beer never missing a passing skirt
Suspenders on his pants working overtime
Shouts out “Free Bird” for the 49th time
Makes you wonder how he ever makes it in to work

There’s a pretty little waitress ten years out of high school
Evades another set of hands as she walks past a nearby stool
Wipes down the table, slides the tip in her purse
Wonders if she should have been a nurse
Forget what Mama ever taught about the golden rule

CHORUS 1
At the open mic night at the Florabama bar and grill
Pass the crawfish down so I can get my fill
Play me a song but don’t leave me here
Cause everybody knows little jimmy likes his beer

Sittin’ next to Jimmy is a business man gettin’ high
Trying to forget what he heard on CNN tonight
There’s a woman next to him lookin better by the minute
He buys her a drink, Jimmy just says “forget it”
Don’t you know that you’re settin’ your sights too high

CHORUS 1

BRIDGE
Me, I’m waitin’ my turn at the bar
Get a little nervous while I tune my guitar
Waitin’ for my 15 minutes of fame
When morning comes , ain’t nobody know my name

CHORUS 2
(2nd line changed to) All you need is nerve and a little time to kill
